« AROUND THE OLD PORT »: THE HEART OF MARSEILLE!
Coming from the main station „Saint Charles“ we approach the sea via the main street called „Canébiere“. The old port has always been the center of Marseille: Here the town was founded by the Greecs 500 BC, and here still beats the heard of the city.
On our tour we visit the fish market, where still today the fishermen land their boats every day at 8 o’clock in the morning and sell the catch of the night.
We walk to the excavations of the first harbor dated from Roman times, wander through the picturesque district „Panier“ with delightful squares and many quiet corners,
enjoy the view of the imposing Fort Saint Jean and the modern MUCEM Museum at the international port. Marseille is a surprisingly beautiful city and the people of Marseille are very friendly, especially with visitors.
Meeting point: In front of the Saint Charles main train station
